Tora Hed is a dance maker and performer from Sweden, living in Leeds since 2012. She graduated from Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2015 and received the Carolyn Woolridge Outstanding Performance Award. Before training at NSCD she trained at Copenhagen Contemporary Dance School.
Tora explores physical and emotional states in her practice and generates new spaces for imagination. Her work has been described as “captivating, charged, motion poetry with presence and nerve”. In 2016 she shared her first solo piece “Under” at Edinburgh Festival, Dance Base. In 2017 she was shortlisted with her solo Deep Sea in collaboration with sound artist Alex De Little at the Hull Dance Prize.
Her work has been performed at venues such as Tanzwerkstatt (Munich), Festival International de Videodanz (Chile), Dance Base (Edinburgh) and Trip Space (London). Tora Hed has also worked and collaborated with artists including Angus Balberine, Carlos Pons Guerra, Joe Moran, Dam van Huynh, Georgie Buchannan, Hannah Buckley, Kasia Witek.
