Giving words to dance, listening to the words from the audience
Greta Pieropan (Italy, 1991) has a background in Modern Philology and Literature Studies. For her graduation she wrote a dissertation about Needcompany’s The Blind Poet, focusing on European identity in contemporary performance. She has been writing about dance and theatre for various magazines since high school and started writing about gender equality in arts and culture and about gender stereotypes in the advertising, in recent years. She has been selected as a foreign language assistant in France, teaching Italian language and culture.
She has worked as a press officer for performing arts festivals, dance companies and magazines, developing strategic thinking in communicating dance to professional and non-professional audiences. Skilled in the use of social media, she is keenly interested in audience development in real life, too, and she has been an Audience Club facilitator for the CSC Centro per la Scena Contemporanea in Bassano, a tour guide and a writer for EU projects.
As a dance dramaturg she is interested in the contribution of an external viewer to the creative process and the role of the dramaturg itself, reflecting on how it can help communication and a positive exchange between artists and audiences.
